Lambert International Airport Concourse C Pumping Project
Mechanical Solutions completed the Lambert Concourse “C” pumping project at Lambert International Airport. The project consisted of decoupling the main airport east and west chiller plants to allow for primary pumping of the main “C” concourse. Installation of two (2) 75HP vertical in-line and two (2) 40 HP vertical in-line chilled water pumps provided better pumping efficiencies and shared loading amongst the two existing chilled water plants that serve the airport. Maintaining a functional system was crucial in the facility, Mechanical Solutions had to coordinate major shut-downs and tie-in work with the airport terminal to complete the project and keep the airport running. Installation of just under a quarter mile of 10” diameter and smaller chilled water piping through existing mechanical rooms and tunnels were just one of the many challenges faced during the project. The completed project qualified for the Ameren UE Energy Efficiency program which helped to fund the project with tens of thousands of dollars.
